Our story
Serene Walks & Tours is a Salisbury-based, family-run tour company born from a love of Wiltshire's landscape and history. We craft small-group and private walks that combine the tranquillity of the Cathedral Close with lively tales from the Market Square and the riverside. Many of our guides grew up locally, live within sight of the Cathedral spire and know the city's medieval street plan, the story of the Magna Carta copy at Salisbury Cathedral, and the landscape link to Old Sarum and nearby Stonehenge. We balance well-researched commentary with accessible pacing and clear directions, so visitors of all ages and mobility levels can enjoy a relaxed, informative visit to Salisbury.
Our routes through Salisbury are planned for curious travellers who want context as well as landmarks. Each experience balances well-known highlights with quieter streets, local stories and time for questions.
Serene Walks & Tours works with knowledgeable local hosts who keep groups comfortable, explain practical meeting details clearly and adapt their delivery to the pace and interests of the guests.
Every booking begins with transparent information about duration, accessibility, inclusions and price. Private itineraries can be adjusted by agreement before the tour, helping visitors make the most of their time in Salisbury.
Why us
Our guides live and work in Salisbury and Wiltshire. They share lesser-known stories about the Cathedral Close, the River Avon and the market traders that national guides often miss.
We limit group sizes so you can hear the guide, ask questions and move at a comfortable pace around cobbled lanes and riverside paths.
Routes are chosen with accessibility in mind where possible. We offer shorter options and can adapt a walk for pushchairs or reduced mobility on request.
We respect heritage sites and local residents. Our tours promote sustainable travel and encourage visits to independent shops, cafés and community spaces in Salisbury.
Process
A clear four-stage booking journey for Salisbury experiences.
Select a scheduled public walk or request a private tour on our website or by phone. Each service description lists duration and meeting point.
Reserve your place with a secure online payment or pay on arrival for some tours. We confirm meeting details, accessibility options and weather contingency plans by email.
Most walks meet near the Market Square or at a clearly stated location by Salisbury Cathedral. Look for our guide holding a Serene Walks & Tours sign and a radio headset.
Enjoy a paced walk with stops at key viewpoints, local shops and riverside spots. Guides provide commentary, answer questions and recommend places to eat or continue exploring.
Guest commitment
If you are not satisfied with your walk, tell your guide at the end of the tour and we will offer a full refund or a voucher for a future walk. We aim to make every visit informative, comfortable and enjoyable — if we fall short, we will put it right promptly.
